Content Credentials for newsrooms
Certifying the provenance of news content means providing elements that can be verified. It does not turn a badge into a guarantee of truth.
C2PA credentials attach signed information about a file’s history to that file. Readers can inspect the available data and verification results without assuming that every image includes an author, GPS data or a complete history.
From photographer to readerContent Credentials can disclose the use of AI tools. They are not a universal detector: a synthetic image may be declared as such, while the absence of credentials does not prove that a photograph is real or fake.
C2PA and fact-checkingIn this demo, the SCE badge applies to the text separately from the images. Blockchain notarization records the fingerprint of the reference version; it does not certify the facts reported or replace source verification.

A different caption is enough to change the meaning of a photo. Provenance adds the context that a headline can hide.
C2PA helps verify origin and integrity, not the truth of a news story. Fact-checking remains essential. The absence of credentials does not mean that content is false.

CMS and API integrationStart with the publishing workflow: which files to certify, when to certify them and where to display the badge. The integration page describes the workspace and APIs. Compatibility with your CMS, formats and required changes must be assessed for your project: this demo does not show a ready-made plugin for every platform.
Explore the integration pathProof applies to a specific version. A new text version needs a new fingerprint and, where applicable, a new notarization. For an edited photo, the C2PA workflow must create credentials that match the resulting asset. The newsroom must define how corrections and links to previous versions are managed.
Versions, updates and notarizationThat is not guaranteed. A platform may recompress the file or remove metadata; even a screenshot can lose embedded credentials. Whether they can be preserved or recovered depends on the tools and the file’s path. Keep a link to the source and test the channels you actually use.
Learn more about photograph provenanceThe demo data is illustrative, not a mandatory list. Available fields depend on the file and implementation. A newsroom must decide what to make public while protecting photographers, sources and sensitive locations. Any exclusions should be designed into the workflow before signing, rather than arbitrarily removing data from an already certified file.
